About GFWC Woman's Club of Westminster, Inc.

HISTORY

The Women's Literary Club of Westminster first met in 1911. When the club adopted a Constitution and By-Laws in 1912, the club's name changed to The Woman's Club of Westminster. In 1913, the club joined the Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs and in 1926 the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). The club works to benefit the individual and the Westminster community through philanthropic, cultural, civic and social endeavors.  Our interests include outreach to other communities both in the United States and around the world.

GFWC Woman's Club of Westminster was incorporated in 1987 and in 1996 received 501c3 status. The Executive Committee is comprised of the club's officers who serve two-year terms that are elected in even numbered years. Meetings are held at the Carroll Nonprofit Center in Westminster on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May.  An annual picnic is planned each summer.

The pandemic slowed our progress but did not dampen the enthusiasm of our seventy members.  We are ready to expand and work harder than ever!
